Creativity in Canberra is bursting at the seams. We really are home to some super talented individuals. We have round up a bunch of our favourite artists this week for you to follow on Instagram. Because. #INSPO and just in case you didn’t know about them yet, now you do.
KATE is one talented lady! She’s got a kick-ass job as the designer of her own stylish prints and interior styling business, YORKLEE which boasts a cool 105k followers. Is mum to two kidlets and somehow manages to clean her house (we assume) and dress like a total babe… The prints found at yorklee, com.au are Scandinavian inspired featuring lots of florals which we love. Kate has also collaborated on collections with Bonds and Cotton On Kids. Like we said, one to follow.
TOM Skeehan specialises in commercial furniture, lighting and product design. His studio takes a material driven approach resulting in an informed design process that considers the long term lived experience of the product and its environment. Tom favours working with Timber and produces some absolutely gorgeous pieces if you’re thinking of dropping some dimes for your home, or office! Recently we’ve been following Tom’s adventures at NYC Design Week.
Luke is a visual artist who really gained a lot of attention around the city for his abstract ‘Straight Face’ character. He’s a be-stubbled man that really interested everyone. It wasn’t something we normally saw here in Canberra. Lots of people started following Luke’s journey because of this, and the opening of Friend Gallery. We love everything about him and his art, still.
Now based in Sydney, JESS is a much-loved artist especially among the ladies of Canberra. Pushing the boundaries with her usually female muses, each painting tells a story and in many ways resonates with others lives, thoughts and feelings. Her work is a reflection upon the relationship between society and the consumption of Pop Culture. Heavily focused on contradictory aspects surrounding beauty and feminine standards which is achieved through painterly application over photographic images.
A freelance florist who works from her home studio offering her skills for weddings, workshops, events, editorial, interiors and installations. LARISSA has built her business through passion and what she truly believes in, that flowers should look wild and free. She describes her style as organic and romantic and our little town (and beyond) goes a little crazy for that!
One of our favourite collections of prints released by Larissa was Lady Flower Box. They’re all both, artistic and cheeky. Check them out on her Insta feed.
