CBR: Locals and their favourite bars

It’s almost the weekend, and you know what that means…. It’s time to take our minds off work and go out for some much deserved drinks!

To help us decide where to go, we asked a few Canberra local babes which bars were their favourites.

“Best wine bar in CBR” – Lexi Bannister, A Flick of Hares

The Trimboli brothers kicked off Braddon’s culinary regeneration a few years back with Italian & Sons, combining trattoria-trad with inner-urban cool. Now, as the renewal of the neighbourhood reaches a more fevered pitch, they’re breaking new ground with a foray into aperitivo culture. Bacaro, which adjoins Italian & Sons, is a chic monochromatic 50-seater, perfect for an amaro, a sharp Re Ale Extra IPA from Lazio or something from the expanded list of regional Italian wines and varieties.

The Highball Express is a Cuban-themed tropical style cocktail bar in the heart of the CBD with over 500 rums to tantalise your taste buds.

Bar Rochford is a wine and cocktail bar hidden away in the iconic Melbourne Building. They’re all about fine food, exciting wine producers and good jams…

Add these to your pit stops this weekend and create your own classy (of course) take on the infamous ‘bar crawl’…

Have fun and most importantly, don’t forget your dancing shoes!
