“Traveling. It leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” – Ibn Battuta
Are you an avid traveler looking for some inspiration for your next adventure? Or perhaps you have never been overseas and would like some recommendations.
We put together five places we love, and that you must-see.
The South Island is a wino’s dream and a snowboarders heaven. We recommend hiring a car and driving around the island stopping at waterfalls, ice glaciers, small historic towns, crystal clear blue lakes and gardens as you go. With wineries around almost every bend and something for both the adventurer and the outstanding view seeker, you won’t be disappointed with this beautiful slice of serenity. Make sure you stop in and stay over in Queenstown, Arrowtown, Christchurch, Mt Cook, Milford Sound, Dunedin, Nelson, Lake Tekpo, Fox Glacier, Hanmer Springs or Cardrona.
Check out Capital Express for all the details and direct flights from Canberra.

Don’t be shy, we always find ourselves singing Alicia Key’s “New Yooorrrrrrrrrk” Concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there’s nothing you can’t do” song every time we think of, or visit NYC. Where to start though! This place is a must see for many many reasons. Broadway is a big must-see and must-visit with world-class stage shows on 24/7. Strolling down the street is enough to get a glimpse of the life these productions bring to the city. A creative and hardworking culture, NYC is home to people from all walks of life, striving to live out their dream of working with top brands, celebrities and influencers. Wall Street, Grand Central Station, Times Square, CENTRAL PARK, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, The Brooklyn Bridge…. These are just a few iconic places we’re sure have made it to many a bucketlist. We recommend going to a museum, taking a walking and bus city tour and being at the top of the Empire State Building just before sunset. Or if you want to pretend you’re a true New Yorker rent an Air BnB in East Village and scope a local coffee shop, shop the brimming thrift shops and roam the streets for some adventures and good eats.
The bustling city of Japan is a foodies paradise. When in Tokyo, simply EAT, lots. Visit Harajuku and take some time out in Meiji Jingu – a gorgeous spot in the middle of all the chaos. Take a glimpse into history at the Imperial Palace and stare in awe at the beautiful cherry-blossom studded shrines. Visit Shinjuku – a fashionistas heaven, be prepared to shop till you drop. Purchase a ticket for the Tokyo Metro and ride it from one end to the other, it goes almost anywhere in the city so you might discover some hidden gems along the way. Stay hydrated with a sweet bubble tea and pack or wear socks with you as some restaurants require you to remove your shoes. Packed full of culture, politics and entertainment, Tokyo offers an experience like no other.
The capital of the UAE and a city that never stands still. There is so much to see and do in Abu Dhabi, with something for everyone. Year-round sunshine and heat, beaches, classy hotels and restaurants, fabulous shopping and an overall clean and safe environment… you’ll find it hard to fit everything in. Visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque if you’re interested in checking out the architecture, it’s a landmark building that is just breathtaking. The kids will love Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld – packed with rides and facilities to enjoy a whole day, or two out. And, Abu Dhabit wouldn’t be complete without a day in the desert. Go on a tour to Liwa and indulge in the space and calming feeling provided by the desert. If you visit Arabian Nights Village, you’ll be treated to a range of activities such as dune bashing, sand sledding, camel farm visits, quad bike hire and lots of restaurants to dine at.
Known for it’s iconic landmarks, from the Eiffel Tower to the Arc de Triomphe, Paris is the chic capital of France and has a plethora of reasons why it’s a must-see. Romance, fashion and food are the three main things that come to mind when thinking of Paris. Enjoy a coffee and croissant at Le Petit Suisse, shop at Boulevard St-Germain and explore art and design galleries just around the corner on rue de Seine. If you want a quick way to drink in the gorgeous buildings, try a walking or bus tour. People watching is so much fun in the City, the fashion and the language are intriguing, and at the end of a big day exploring, relaxing with an aperitif at a laid back bar or restaurant is a nice end.
