“The gladdest moment in human life, me thinks, is a departure into unknown lands.” – Sir Richard Burton
Following on from our recent article featuring 5 must see places (add link) to add to your next travel itinerary… we’ve got 5 more.
Many of us grow up watching movies and following the lives of celebrities in ‘tinsel town’ AKA Hollywood. Los Angeles, California is also home to many amazing sights and things to do, so it’s no wonder it’s a common must see place topping a bucket list or 10.
Once you land at LAX it’s a bit of a drive until you reach the main areas. Jump in a guided tour bus and be taken around ‘The Hills’ where you’ll be shown celebrity houses, places where iconic movies were filmed and to the best lookout for a view of the Hollywood Sign.
LA is also home to Universal Studios, Disneyland, The Hollywood Boulevard and Grauman’s Chinese Theatre where events such as The Grammy’s take place.
Visit the Santa Monic Pier and ride the ferris wheel, shop at the Venice Beach local handmade market and go surfing in Malibu. There really is so much to do.
Oh and don’t forget East Hollywood for dinner and drinks.. emphasis on the drinks.
New Year, New You right? And what is a better way to refresh then in Bali. Bali is known for it’s rice paddies, beaches and coral reefs – a gorgeous tourist destination in Indonesia widely popular for a summer vacation. The island is filled with weddings, yoga and meditation retreats and has a thriving hospitality industry. We would recommend spending time in Seminyak and Nusa Dua where you’ll be treated to luxury resorts with infinity pools, day spas, hiking trails, breath taking views, shopping and of course, beaches.
Kuta is the place to be if you are into partying with just a short scooter or taxi ride to Seminyak for shopping and fantastic eateries and Canggu is an up and coming part of Bali surrounded by rice paddies where many artists, designers and surfers indulge in stay-cations where they work collaboratively with the local makers and manufacturers.
Two words. Croatia Sail. When a country has over 1000 islands, this is the best way to see them all. This is probably one of the most popular ways to tour Croatia, sail the sea by day and island hop by night. The beautiful Adriatic coast provides a beautiful setting for an experience of a lifetime.
Croatia is also home to eight beautiful national parks if hiking is your thing, we’re positive the lakes and waterfalls will make the trek quite worth it.
Don’t forget to treat your taste buds to some delicious traditional Croation food. We recommend indulging in Krafne and Burek. Mm mmm.
We are almost certain that going on a safari to see the Big 5 is on your bucketlist. You can experience this at Kwa-Zulu-Natal. South Africa is also home to one of the best surf spots, Jeffrey’s Bay where the World Surf League Tournament is held.
visit Cape Town and hike Table Mountain, a huge flat block of sandstone that rises 3500 feet into the hair. This national park is a prominent landmark and fantastic for hiking.
There are also heaps of crazy adventurous things to do such as Kayaking with hippos and crocodiles, swimming with sharks and bungee jumping. We’ll leave those activities to you…
Home to many mosques, palaces and gardens – Marrakech is a major city located in Morrocco and has quickly become a must visit place for all travellers who appreciate the architecture of a medieval city. Lining the alleys you can find marketplaces selling traditional textiles, pottery and jewelry filled with colour and personality.
For the adventure seekers you’ll love ‘glamping’ in the desert and spending your time quad biking, sunset camel riding and sharing stories with the local workers.
If you are more of a sight see-er, the Boucharuoite Musem, Musee Yves Saint Laurent and Mouassine Musem all have raving reviews as to the amazing photography and artefacts housed in them.
Where in the world do you recommend as a must see, and why?
