Home inspo: Vintage

Gorgeous vintage is making a big comeback and adds a whole lot of heart and style to any home.

Whether you opt to hunt real vintage wares on second hand websites such as Gumtree and eBay or spend hours rummaging through all the local thrift shops, we love that something old can become new again.

Modern vintage is also a trend where new furniture and wares are produced with a distressed look but start their life brand new in your home.

If you are a fan of DIY projects, purchasing old furniture and re-upholstering is a really fun and great way to create an original look – This also paves the way to ensuring that you’re able to follow a trend throughout your home, or one space.

We have hand-picked a few of our favourite stores selling lovely vintage and modern vintage pieces for you to peruse…

Believe it or not, they have a range of one off vintage furniture pieces that are full of character and second hand love that will add warmth and another story to your home.

All goods with commercial value can be dropped off at The Green Shed Shops located on Mugga Lane and in Mitchell. These are the best stores to go hunting for something in particular from bikes to trailers, books to clothes, ornaments, lamps, kids toys and much much more… If you like a spot of op shopping prepare to spend a few hours browsing the shelves for treasures.

This iconic Canberra market allows stall holders to sell fantastic (and at times odd) vintage bits and bobs. The market is still very much a ‘sell from the boot of your car’ style haunt, and we love the vintage finds here. Many of the people we’ve come across here aren’t too tech savvy and don’t sell on the websites, so arrive early to nab the best finds

Caberra’s biggest op shop is the ‘Salvo’s’ in Mitchell. Jam-packed, but very organized – everything you could imagine you will find here. The furniture range is especially good with many lounges, dining sets and chairs always up for grabs.

Taking it back to an old school vintage vibe, Pop & Scott are located in Melbourne & Byron Bay and also sell online. We love the hand-painted ceramics, stone vases, limewood sculptures and linen cushions and throws for modern vintage meets beachy vibes.
