There’s something so bittersweet about the end of summer. As excited, as I am to whip out my long coats and throw on my healed boots, I’m not sure if I’m ready to farewell the sunshine just yet!
Before the temperature falls and the sky turns grey we want to celebrate one of ours, and arguably most peoples favourite parts of summer, ice cream!
We’ve rounded up our favourite places around the capital that you can enjoy some delicious dessert.
Frugii Dessert Laboratory:
Gracing Lonsdale Street in in Braddon is the infamous Frugii Dessert Laboratory.
Not only does this Canberra treasure serve up delicious ice cream to lucky customers, but they also offer a collection of fresh pastries and even some vegan friendly desert options in the form of tasty sorbets!
The moment I walked past this gem on Bunda Street in the city it was as if I had been transported to Italy.
The stunning cabinets filled with house-made Italian desserts are enough to have anyone drooling, along with the show-stopping array of gelato and sorbet offered.
Via Dolce’s optimum location means that you can grab some scoops to-go and enjoy a stroll around the city.
Traditional Italian Gelato made fresh daily and located in two places across Canberra, Woden & Fyshwick.
The Swiss ice cream franchise Mövenpick has graced the Kingston Foreshore with its presence, and we couldn’t be happier!
Spoilt for choice, customers can pick from an assortment of delectable ice creams, and have no fear if you are dairy-free, Mövenpick has you covered with their ‘fruity & creamy’ range that are both lactose free and delicious.
Pure Gelato is located in the Canberra suburb of Mitchell. This award-winning slice of dessert heaven has been serving quality ice cream to Canberrans since 1994.

With their creative and mouth-watering flavours this Vermont-based ice cream chain is sure to have you coming back for more! Known for their premium ice creams and sorbets packed full of flavour. My favourite would have to be a toss up between one of the new combos; Coconut non-dairy frozen dessert with fudge chunks, walnuts & swirls of graham cracker and caramel OR the original mouth-watering Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
Stripey Sundae is located in the suburb of Nicholls.
Not only does this delicious ice creamery serve up scoops of classic and seasonal flavours, but they also have coffee up for offer.
