There will always be a place for good basics and statement pieces – those items around which your entire wardrobe is based. There is no need to dramatically overhaul an entire wardrobe, the key to staying current is honing of the details and mixing up just a few key pieces to freshen up the rest of your wardrobe. Try these switches going into Autumn/Winter 2018…
Swap: The Slide with the kitten heel
Slides are EVERYWHERE. What once looked like a lazy slipper shoe is now considered chic but it does have us asking what is next? As summers waves goodbye, we are going to need to start covering those tootsies so where do we go from here? Enter the kitten heel. This can be applied to boots, sandals, even sneakers are jumping on board.
Swap: The white tee with the slogan tee
The white tee will always be a winner but try a slogan tees to update this classic look. When the Gucci slogan tee went viral last year, a million copies followed suit so there are plenty of options to choose from. Have a little fun with your slogan of choice, the quirkier the better or make a statement with a shirt which demands to be noticed both politically and sartorially.
Swap: The cropped denim with the culottes
Cropped denim took the world by storm last season, with frayed hems, mum style rises and even classic Levi variations, we couldn’t get enough. The chic and wearable way to play with cropped is culottes and wide leg pants. Look for a higher waist so you can tuck your shirt in, hello instant chic.
Swap: The Slip Dress with the shirt dress
90’s fever hit with full force a few years back and we embraced spaghetti straps like never before. The new way forward with simplicity is the shirt dress. The tailoring and cotton blends are chic, clean and fresh. Go dramatic and look for a longer version, with oversize and relaxed the new way forward.
Swap: The necklace with the earrings
Drop earrings are the new way to bling. We are seeing everything from hoops, to tassels right through to the wildest statement earrings imaginable. A simple bun and minimal makeup is the way to balance the look, the idea is to dress down and let the earrings do the talking.
