The ultimate day out in Canberra

Sometimes a weekend well spent is at home, relaxing and catching up on your favourite book. And others, well they’re for an adventure!

If you feel like stepping out this winter and enjoying some quality time with family and friends then this is the article for you!

We have put together an ideal day, jam-packed with things to do in the Capital this winter, that will take your weekend from 0 – 100!

There’s no greater way to start the morning then by stepping outside and getting active. Sure, Canberra mornings aren’t the warmest, but if you rug up and get your heart pumping you’ll be sure to forget about the frost in no time!

Some of our favourite places to walk are Mount Taylor, Mount Ainslie and the infamous Lake Burley Griffin. Even better now there is a coffee cart near Blundells Cottage if you need a quick pick me up half way.

After you finish your morning sweat-session, its time to treat yourself to a real coffee hit and a tasty breakfast. Continue the scenic tour and head to one of our favourites on Kingston Foreshore – Local Press. Giving you all the healthy feels with its fresh juices and brekkie options.

Now that you’re already out and about, why not head to the National Gallery and check out the latest works on display. Just a short drive from Kingston over to Parkes.

If the gallery isn’t your thing, you can always grab the little loves in your life and head to Questacon just around the corner, to enjoy a day filled with all things science and technology.

If gorgeous views, nature and greenery is something you quite enjoy, we love to drive up the curvy road to The National Arboretum or Black Mountain to The Telstra Tower to check out Canberra from some of our highest points. This one reminds us of just how lucky we are to live in such a calm place with the perks of a big city!

To top off your day of adventure… next its time to treat yourself to a night out on the town! Enjoy dinner and drinks at one of Canberra’s dining hot spots like Lazy Su in Braddon or Akiba, just down the road in the heart of the City.

If cocktails are your thang, then we suggest heading over to Kokomos for a tropical experience dancing the night away.

However, if you’d rather wind down and enjoy something a little more low key, like an after-dinner movie – Palace Electric Cinemas is just the place for you!

We hope to have inspired you to step outside this winter and enjoy all that our beautiful city has to offer.
