You’ll want to make friends with ‘Amici’

Canberra’s new best friend Amici Wine Bar & Deli has opened its doors after a much anticipated wait. Offering up stunning Instagrammable opportunities and a vibrant atmosphere, Amici makes you feel right at home.

“We wanted to create a place for wine and food lovers alike. Amici means ‘friends’ in Italian and we want to be bringing people together to share and discover their favourite wines, cheeses and meats on an ever evolving seasonal and locally sourced menu.” Lala Hospitality Group Sales and Marketing Director, Jessica Arena explained.

When walking into Amici, there’s subtle nods to classic Italian architecture and interior design, but with a modern spin. Light, bright and airy styling, Amici features wainscot panelled walls, sun-filled arched windows, terrazzo tiles and a delicatessen and wine display all designed with texture and a comfortable atmosphere in mind.

While Amici can cater for roughly 60 people at a time in-house, their ‘grab-and-go’ style meals will be a big focus. As well as fast and convenient, the grab-and-go menu will be flavoursome and vast – pop in for a quick satisfying bite at breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert out of their Italian inspired fridge.

Packed full of yoghurt, pasta, fresh salads and delicious traditional tiramisu, don’t expect this fridge to stay the same for too long. Stock will evolve with the seasons and locally sourced food. For something a little heartier, they offer tasty takeaway meat and cheese platters (perfect to pick up on your way home after a long week at work!), sandwiches and hand-made pizzas.

But don’t be distracted by the delectable food offerings (including baked cheese wheels!), everything pairs perfectly with a cocktail or wine. Speaking to the health-conscious consumer, their cocktail menu features a number of no, low and full (or No, Low and Go!) alcohol by volume drinks.

The bar features a carefully curated mix of local, Australian and international wines, with a focus on limited run and small batch bottlings, all watched over by the talented Holly from Molly, another award winning venue from the hospitality group.

The real hero of the venue is the signature Negroni fountain, flowing daily on tap from 11am. A smooth blend of Gin, Campari and Martini Vermouth, you’ll be transported right into Italy. There’s also an impressive retail component, offering up small continental goods you won’t find anywhere else in Canberra.

A trip to Italy is just a train ride away with Amici Right across the road from the new light rail city station.

Open six days a week from early ‘till late, grab your friends, family and colleagues and find the perfect spot to sit and relax.
