The Foodie Guide: Braddon

There’s no denying that when it comes to food, we’re pretty spoilt for choice in Canberra! In our new series, ‘The Foodie Guide’, we take a look at Canberra’s food hotspots and the best places they have on offer.

Elemental Café

A staple eatery on Lonsdale street, Elemental serves up quality coffee and simple, healthy food that is packed with flavour! Our favourites are the Omnivore Burger and the Green Dream.

Location: 54/30 Lonsdale Street |

Newcomer on the foodie scene, Gather, aims to serve up locally sourced, sustainable and healthy eats, alongside top notch customer service. Don’t miss the Ricotta Hot Cakes or the Not Porridge.

Location: 4/24 Mort St |

Braddon’s resident vegan eatery loved by vegans, vegetarians and omnivores alike – there’s something for everyone! With a rustic vibe and serving up delicious wholesome food, including amazing sweet treats, Sweetbones is definitely worth the visit. Make sure you give the Breakfast Burger and Pancakes a go.

Location: Shop 8, 18 Lonsdale Street |

Ask anyone in Canberra where to find a good burger, and Greasemonkey will almost always get a mention. Not only do they serve up a drool worthy burger, but they’re now slinging out extra cheesy Detroit style pizzas! Make sure you give their classic Greasy Burger a go or if you’re feeling fancy, one of their creative monthly specials; the Spitfire and Motor City pizza’s also go down a treat.

Location: 19 Lonsdale Street |

Eighty/Twenty is all about serving up balanced and wholesome food to keep you fuelled all day long. You’ll find delicious raw desserts, quality coffee and natural and unprocessed meals. Give the Japanese Salad Bowl or Burrito Bowl a go for a filling lunch

Location: 1/18 Lonsdale Street |

The biggest pub in Canberra has taken up residence in Braddon, with the perfect industrial aesthetic and cosy leather booths. There’s good vibes at all times of the day and we recommend you try the Fried Chicken Burger and Eggplant Parmigiana.

Location: 11 Lonsdale Street |

Zaab Street Food

Zaab isn’t only good for a cheap lunch option, if you haven’t eaten dinner there yet you’re missing out! Serving up an intricate mix of modern and traditional Laos flavours, you can’t go past their Feed Me Menu that sees staff pick eight of the most popular/favourite dishes for you to try.

Location: 7 Lonsdale Street |

Lazy Su

Where else can you find Japanese, Korean and American fusion food except for Lazy Su? With energetic vibes and a great mix of cocktails, go straight for their banquet option to get the best of what the menu has on offer.

Location: 1/9 Lonsdale St |

White Chaco

A fusion of Taiwanese and Japanese, you can find items like dumplings, sushi, popcorn chicken, ramen and curry on offer. The Pork Ramen is definitely one menu item you shouldn’t miss.
