Simple New Year’s resolutions you’ll actually keep!

“New year, new me”, how many times have you said that before? How many times have you actually been able to commit to the “new me”? New Year’s resolutions don’t need to be anything extravagant! Keep it simple with easy, mini life goals and you’ll start seeing changes in no time! Here’s a few simple New Year’s resolutions you’ll actually keep!

Drink more water
Sounds simple right? Unless you’re already in the habit of drinking the recommended two litres of water a day, it can actually be pretty hard to accomplish! Things you can try to up your water intake include adding some lemon and cucumber slices or berries into your water to add a little extra flavour so it’s not so ‘plain’, purchasing a clear two litre drink bottle so you can keep track of how much you’re drinking throughout the day or simply just always carry a bottle of water with you!

Go green
Living a sustainable life and reducing your carbon footprint is something that’s on the back of everybody’s minds lately. It’s so much simpler than you think to do your bit and live a more sustainable lifestyle. Some simple things you can do include starting a compost bin, using reusable containers and food wraps, eating local and seasonal produce and factor in public transport or walking wherever possible when you need to commute somewhere. Get outside
Make a decent effort this year to get outside more and reconnect with nature. Make healthy changes
We don’t mean having to go to the gym for an hour four times a week. There’s lots of small things that can make a big improvement in your life over the long-term. Paying attention and learning to look after your hormone health is one thing that you can do over the year that will make a huge difference to how you feel overall! Other things you can do include participating in ‘meatless Monday’ or even going 2-3 days/nights a week eating vegetarian, making good habits out of meal prepping, taking the stairs instead of the lift and making sure you schedule some regular ‘me’ time each week.

Round off your purchases
Find some time and go talk to your bank. An easy way to get some savings that’ll build up over time without you even knowing is to open up a round up savings account. Everytime you pay by card, your purchase will round up to the nearest whole dollar amount and that extra amount is shifted into a savings account to build up long term. Just keep in mind that not all banks offer this kind of account, so some other things you can try include setting up a regular daily transfer of one or two dollars into your savings or $10 a week. Chances are you’ll barely notice it’s gone from your spending account and you’ll have more in your savings slowly build up over time!
Just remember, have faith in yourself and always back yourself. Just keep doing the best you can, you might never master everything on your list but at least you’re giving it a shot!
