The October Edit

This is it, the start of the home stretch to Summer! We survived the false start to Spring and it’s only going to get warmer from here. We’re all still working together to keep the community safe, but as the weather warms up, there’s no shortage of things to do. 

Floriade: Reimagined NightFeast

Nighfest is undoubtably one of the best times of the year, and although we can’t experience it like we usually do, the organisers behind Floriade are bringing us NightFeast instead!

Over 30 venues around Canberra are participating, bringing a huge line-up of exclusive spring inspired meals and deals. 

You can either head out and experience it for yourself, or get your girls together and experience NightFeast in your home.

Drive the Canola Trail

The recent rains have made the fields bloom so vibrantly yellow, plus there’s the added bonus of exploring the little towns just outside of Canberra. Just picture the selfie of you in a bright yellow field of canola under a clear blue sky! It’s the perfect weekend adventure.

A Wild Night out at Tidbindilla

When: 25 Sept – 10 October
Where: Tidbindilla Nature Reserve

Want to glamp out in the wild? This family friendly event is packed with amazing activities day and night. Spend a day in the life of an ACT Parks Wildlife Officer, roast marshmallows by the fire, go behind the scenes at the vet centre and solve the mystery of CSI Tidbindilla, as well as encountering some amazing stargazing views after dinner. Glamp out in tents with real beds and quality linen, as well as delicious catering and full amenities provided onsite. 

For one night only on 7 October, spend the evening with renowned photographer Ari Rex and learn how to take incredible photographs of the nightsky in an exclusive beginners astro-photography workshop!

Explore universal themes encompassed by love, and immerse yourself in some seriously intriguing stories. Play ahead online, before the major physical exhibition comes to town in March 2021.

Endeavour Voyage: The Untold Stories of Cook and the First Australians

Where: National Museum of Australia

When: Happening now until April 2021

The Endeavour Voyage Exhibition showcases the Indigenous perspectives not often seen and heard in the traditional story of Captain James Cook and his discovery of Australia. These stories are told alongside the experiences of the Endeavour crew. 

This exhibition retells the foundational narrative for all Australians, 250 years on from a pivotal moment in the nation’s history. Experience it now, online and through a physical exhibit.
