Florals for Spring – Groundbreaking!!! We’ve asked Canberra Outlet stylist Tracey Davis to give you the low down on what styles to steal this season, and yes it will be more than the return of florals….again!!
The Button Up White Shirt
White shirts are a workplace staple but their wearability in warmer months is often overlooked. This crisp and fresh classic can add an air of sophistication to any casual look so make your shirt summer ready. You’ll be seeing the white shirt everywhere – promise.
1. Beach cover-up. Open, closed or tied, a white shirt looks great over a sleek swimsuit or bikini. Pair with a straw bag and tan sandals for an effortless look.
2. Pair with shortsTuck your shirt in at the front, roll the sleeves and balance with a pair with denim cut-offs or longer, on trend bermuda shorts. If the shirt is soft enough, consider tucking it all in.
3. OverlayerConsider a tee, singlet, crop top or silk cami under an unbuttoned and oversized white shirt to give your shirt a new lease of life.
Statement sleeves shouldered into style last season and their dramatic silhouettes in tops, dresses and jumpsuits look set to remain this spring/ summer. To ensure voluminous sleeves do not dominate your body shape or style personality, consider the following tips:
Define your waist: If opting for a puffy shoulder, balance the volume up top by cinching your waist.
Opt for a ruched or peplum body, tuck in your top or add a belt to help create an hourglass shape and balance the look as a whole.
Tone it down: If you want a more subtle, everyday entry into this trend, consider a softer balloon sleeve in a neutral colour. This will be a good shape for broad shoulders or fuller chests.
Dial it up: If you want to add some drama, consider combining your statement sleeve with lol how a bold print to make sure you stand out from the crowd.
Well really would it be Spring without them. This season it is more about miniature florets in pastels – think the style you were wearing in the 90’s. Gone are the larger tropical flower patterns for the more dainty version. Offering a more youthful and fun element to your look, the smaller pattern is more flattering for all figures.
Try it in a cropped tee, baby doll dress or even a floaty maxi.
And boy are they having a moment! The coordinate trend started last season and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere fast. Whether it’s to do with Covid and the rise of working from home in loungewear who knows, but we are so behind this trend. Think basically matching top and bottoms.
Sports team: Fleece coordinate shorts and tees are an absolute vibe… the festival take on 2020 life even.
Linen: Flowy, classic and elevated. Culottes and cropped button down tees are our pick for the win.
Pattern: Tie dye is having a moment and so are styles that offer something a little unique. A statement coordinate is a real wow factor right now! You will absolutely be stepping out in style in this one.
