The December Edit

It’s hot, sooo hot in here! We have well and truly welcomed Summer and after last year’s lack there of it is time to celebrate. There is a bunch of events and activities happening in Canberra this month, but what we are most excited for is those that offer a little more nostalgia and time with our people.

The Beautique Pop Up Gift Shop

To be honest we heard the words cacti from Luna and Jungle for sale and stopped listening. The wonderful team at the The Beautique want to support local Canberra businesses this Christmas and are changing up their beauty bar to a pop up marketplace. Perfect for those unique stocking fillers and bespoke pieces while supporting CBR… what’s not to love.

Sunday 6th December 11am – 2pm

The Beautique, 96/235 Flemington Road, Franklin

The Great Aussie Pool

One thing we lack in Canberra is a beach, and don’t try and tell me we have point hut xing or Urriara. It is absolutely no comparison. HOWEVER we do have an array of pretty great pools that sometimes get a little forgotten about. Grab the crew, your swimmers and make a fruit platter for a day at the pool. Position yourself under the trees and don’t forget the sunscreen – because it is cool to be sun safe trust us – bonus points if you can get some reading in.

Our picks are Dickson, Manuka and Queanbeyan (yep over the border – who offer free admission to all QPRC rate payers)

David Hughes – Ridiculous

Well 2020 could be referred to as nothing short of ridiculous and we speak for ourselves but dear god we are up for a good laugh. David Hughes show was postponed from earlier in the year but is now on just in time for a final Christmas hurrah. Based on his travels for shows and his radio and tv appearances he is serving tales and farfetched stories that will have you in stitches.

Carols by Candlelight

We are really embracing that extra festive cheer this year and ramping up the nostalgia so why not some carols. Spots are limited – because well Covid, so make sure to book. Bring some tea lights, picnic blanket and the wine – perfect excuse to really level up your Christmas game .

Your own FriendMas

As more and more American trends creep on in Friendgiving has really begun to have its time. So why not rally the troops and start your own Friendmas tradition this Christmas. Covid-19 has really taught us the importance of our people and how much we miss not being around each other. While busy, Christmas is the perfect time to come together and spend time with your faves. Start at one persons house and plan for each year to go somewhere else. Everyone can bring their own plate of food to share and if you’re up for it add a secret Santa element. Level up with a signature boozy cocktail (examples here) or theme for the event and you’ll be having a night to remember (or not if you aren’t great with the self control).
